Introduction to CiviRules

CiviRules is an extension for CiviCRM that helps automate everyday tasks. It works by following “if–then” rules — for example, if someone makes a donation, then send them a thank-you email, or if a new contact is added, then place them in the right mailing list. This saves time, reduces manual work, and ensures people always get the right follow-up. It’s flexible and can be adapted to fit many different situations, making it easier for organizations to stay organized and connected without extra effort.

Google Groups

The Google Groups Integration extension allows organizations to synchronize their CiviCRM contact groups with Google Groups. This integration enables seamless management of mailing lists by ensuring that contacts in CiviCRM groups are automatically added to the corresponding Google Groups, facilitating efficient communication. The extension supports one-way synchronization from CiviCRM to Google Groups, meaning that updates made in CiviCRM are reflected in Google Groups, but changes in Google Groups do not sync back to CiviCRM. This setup helps maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information across both platforms. It’s particularly beneficial for organizations using Google Groups as their primary communication tool, ensuring that their mailing lists are always current without manual updates. The extension is compatible with CiviCRM versions 5.0 and higher.

The GoToWebinar Integration extension connects your CiviCRM event management with GoToWebinar, allowing you to seamlessly create and manage webinars. Once installed, you can link a GoToWebinar session to a CiviCRM event, enabling automatic registration of participants and synchronization of attendee information. This integration streamlines the process of hosting online events, ensuring that participant data is accurately captured and managed within CiviCRM. It’s particularly beneficial for organizations that regularly host webinars and wish to maintain cohesive records of their events and attendees. The extension is compatible with CiviCRM versions 5.20 and higher.

The MS Office 365 Integration extension connects CiviCRM with Microsoft Office 365, enabling organizations to create tasks directly in Microsoft Planner from within CiviCRM. This integration streamlines task management by allowing users to link their CiviCRM activities with Office 365’s task management system. It requires CiviCRM version 5.71 or higher.

Nextcloud

The Nextcloud Integration extension connects your CiviCRM system with Nextcloud, an open-source file storage platform. It enables you to store and organize documents related to contacts, cases, or expenses directly within Nextcloud. Each contact, case, or expense has its own dedicated folder in Nextcloud, making it easy to manage and access associated files. Additionally, a button is added to the CiviCRM interface, allowing users to quickly access the corresponding Nextcloud folder. This integration streamlines document management by centralizing files in a secure and collaborative environment, enhancing efficiency and organization. The extension is compatible with CiviCRM version 5.45 and higher.

Moodle

The CiviCRM Moodle Integration extension connects your CiviCRM system with the Moodle online learning platform, enabling seamless enrollment and management of online courses. When users register and pay for courses through CiviCRM, their details are automatically transferred to Moodle, creating or updating their user accounts. This integration streamlines the process for organizations offering online training, ensuring that participant information is accurately synchronized between both systems. It’s important to note that this extension is currently compatible only with Drupal-based websites. Support for WordPress and Joomla would require additional development. The extension is compatible with CiviCRM version 5.80 and higher.

Zapier

The CiviCRM Zapier Integration lets you connect CiviCRM to thousands of other apps using Zapier, without needing to write code. It triggers events in Zapier whenever things happen in CiviCRM (like a new contact or updated registration), so you can automate workflows—e.g., add new contacts to a Google Sheet or send Slack notifications. Currently, it supports pushing CiviCRM events out to external services; pulling data into CiviCRM is planned for later.

DonorSearch

The DonorSearch Integration extension allows organizations to assess the philanthropic capacity of their contacts by performing wealth lookups using the DonorSearch prospect research service. By integrating this extension, users can gain insights into a contact’s financial background, giving history, and philanthropic interests, aiding in identifying potential major donors. The extension adds a “DonorSearch” tab under each contact’s record, displaying relevant wealth indicators. Organizations receive two free lookups per month, with additional lookups available through a paid DonorSearch account. This tool is particularly beneficial for fundraising teams aiming to prioritize outreach efforts effectively.

Zoom

CiviZoom is an extension that integrates Zoom with CiviCRM events. When someone registers for an event in CiviCRM, they are automatically added as a registrant to the corresponding Zoom meeting. If their registration is canceled within CiviCRM, they are removed from the Zoom meeting as well. This integration streamlines the process of managing virtual events, ensuring that participant lists are synchronized between CiviCRM and Zoom without manual intervention. It is compatible with CiviCRM version 5.60 and higher.

Open Street Map

The OpenStreetMap (OSM) Geocoding extension adds the Nominatim OpenStreetMap server as a geocoding option within CiviCRM. This means that when you enter an address for a contact or event, CiviCRM can automatically determine its geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) using OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. This functionality is particularly useful for visualizing locations on maps and for organizing data based on geographic regions. To enable this feature, simply install the extension and activate it via “Administer” → “System Settings” → “Mapping and Geocoding” in CiviCRM’s settings. The extension is compatible with CiviCRM version 5.70 and higher.
