Leverage No Code CiviCRM Platform and WordPress to provide a versatile and user-friendly application for members in a membership non-profit organization
Réseau (Network) Oudinot is a membership organization with around 500 members. Members are experienced executives (individuals). The organization helps the members find jobs, opportunities, and improve their skills and employability.
Réseau Oudinot yearly organizes around 250 events to provide networking opportunities, trainings.
The challenges
The membership organization wanted an integrated Information System for:
- Event handling: free or paying, public or member-only
- Mass Mailing: Newsletters, Events, …
- Private social network to foster communications and networking between members
- New members Recruitment: 100 members are yearly co-opted via a process with interviews
- A logged-in Front-end application for members with specific functionalities: modern GUI, responsive, maintainable, scalable, …
- The ability to have different roles: different set of functionalities, WordPress access, Back end different configurations
The organization wanted a widely adopted, sustainable, flexible solution based on WordPress.
The technical solution
WordPress: website and logged in environment, WordPress/ CiviCRM roles
WordPress BuddyPress Plugin for the Private Social Network, Documentation management plugin, WordPress/ CiviCRM Sync plugin
CiviCRM and No code Platform with CiviCRM SearchKit/ Formbuilder, for Front-end and back-end.
CiviCRM and the website are hosted by Symbiotic Coop

CiviCRM components
All major components are used:
- Contact management: activities, groups, contacts, …
- Mass mailings: CiviMail and Mosaico
- Memberships: CiviMember
- Events: CiviEvent (use of Event Templates, Scheduled Reminders, …)
- Contributions (event fees, memberships, donations): CiviContribute, Stripe Payment Processor
- Case management (mainly for recruitment): CiviCase
- CiviRules: for various automations
Additional extensions are mainly Member only event, Contact Layout Editor, Search Action designer, Activity Tokens, CDN Tax Receipts, GDPR, SearchKit Maps Display, Group Sync with WordPress roles, …
The Front-end application
It is used by 500 members. It is built with Searchkit/Formbuilder.
Responsiveness is mainly provided with tiles (Grid Display): events, financial contributions, memberships, …
The basic functionalities are:
- Profile update: photo, skills, background, addresses/ emails/ telephone, …
- Directory and map
- Event calendar: locations, videoconference links, registration (free or paying, public or member only), cancellation, participants, …
- Contributions: invoices, tax receipts
- Memberships: online renewal
- Document management with permissions
And functionalities provided to different roles:
- Around 50 members are allowed to create, update events, manage the participants attendance on the Front-end.
- Around 60 members are helping in the recruitment process:
- Interview scheduling, feed back
- Information on applicants
- New members monitoring
- Around 100 members can offer services as Executive Interim Manager. A platform is available for companies/ contacts that would be interested.
- Around 400 members can access some documentation services
- Around 70 members can view some specific reports
The Front-end application: Private Social Network
The functionalities of the social network are:
- Wall, posts (like Facebook)
- Different roles: group members, administrators
- Document management
- Messaging
There is a 2-way sync with CiviCRM (groups, group administrators)
The Back end
A very limited number of persons (in different roles) are allowed to access the CiviCRM back end:

- Recruitment management
- Interviews creation: more than 300 yearly with more than 50 interviewers
- Mass mailings
- Financial follow up
- Website updates
- Complex Events handling

The uniqueness of CiviCRM
It is possible to build a fully customized application with the No Code versatile Platform Searchkit/ Formbuilder.
Coupled with WordPress Pagebuilders (and adequate plugins), we can achieve the highest standards in terms of GUI and user experience.
The combination of the No Code Platform and the functional CiviCRM completeness (for Non-Profit organizations) is unique. You do not have to rebuild functionalities from scratch (as you would with generic No Code tooling) and you still have all the flexibility you could dream of.
Last but not the least, CiviCRM community is very reactive, helpful. The product is evolving very quickly.
Next steps
The organization is investigating the possibility to migrate to Mattermost. Sync functionalities are currently being tested, as well as integration links.
