How Kitchen Angels streamlined giving and events with CiviCRM on WordPress

Last updated: 25 May, 2026

Since 1992, Kitchen Angels has delivered free, nutritious meals to homebound neighbors in Santa Fe who are living with serious health conditions. Volunteers, donors, and community partners keep the program moving every week. To serve more people with less admin work, the team needed their website and CRM to work as one.

Challenge

Donations, event RSVPs, and email lived in separate tools. Staff had to copy information between systems, which slowed things down and could lead to errors. The team preferred managing content in WordPress, but they wanted supporter data, email, and events to live in CiviCRM so everything stayed connected.

Solution

Skvare migrated the existing CiviCRM database from Drupal to WordPress, giving Kitchen Angels the content management system they preferred without losing any CiviCRM data. The move was straightforward and allowed the team to continue using CiviCRM while simplifying their web content editing experience.
Key features now in use include:

  • CiviContribute with Authorize.net for secure online giving, with contributions logged automatically.
  • CiviEvent to manage RSVPs and create participant records instantly.
  • Smart Groups and Scheduled Reminders to segment audiences and send timely event updates.
  • Mosaico for CiviMail to design branded, drag-and-drop email campaigns inside CiviCRM.
  • Event Calendar to display upcoming events clearly for supporters.

These tools replaced manual entry and third-party services, creating one integrated system that saves time and reduces cost.

Results

Kitchen Angels cut manual entry, improved accuracy, and connected every touchpoint back to a single contact record. Online RSVPs feed straight into CiviEvent, reminders go out on schedule, and follow-ups are easy because participant data is already in the CRM. Email campaigns look better with Mosaico and deliver directly from CiviCRM, while donors enjoy a smooth giving process.
The streamlined system allows the team to focus less on juggling tools and more on their mission: preparing and delivering meals to the people who need them most.
